Introduction

Trinity College SATC.png

Based on the brief essay "A Concise History of Trinity College and the 1918 Influenza," this exhibit contains records of College publications, the Trinity Tripod, the Hartford Courant, and other documents from the historical annals of Trinity College. Together, they collectively present that in the shadow of World War I, the College was still touched by the influenza and experienced tangible loss.

Designed and produced as the 2020 worldwide COVID-19 epidemic ravages the world and at a time when Trinity's own campus has moved to remote operations, this exhibit offers Trinity students, faculty, staff, and alumni/alumnae an opportunity to examine how Trinity dealt with the "pandemic of the century" more than 100 years ago.

As we consider our present moment, reflecting on history has never been more important. This digital exhibit will be updated as new sources are discovered.
